The body is made up of an estimated 70 trillion cells and every one of them is working for the greater good of the body to function in a complete state of wholeness.

When one or more of those cells are unable to keep up with the demands for functional efficiency, the inner recuperative power of the body will recognize that those cells cannot keep up and strive towards healing that dysfunctional area in the body. This is a form of supply and demand within your physiology to move towards wholeness.

Supply and demand is a principle of healing within the body and is in constant flux and stability based on the body’s inner wisdom to keep the trillions of cells within you working together through coordination and well-being.

When stress outweighs the body’s ability to adapt to it, a deviation away from well-being and wholeness and towards dysfunction can occur. Deviation away from wholeness can be symptomless without you even knowing about it. Momentum can take favor of compensation away from wholeness and before long, one or more cells of dysfunction can turn into areas of tissue not functioning in accordance with the whole.

When we fight with the day to day demands and stress, the signs and symptoms of the long days we’ve had are usually evident by the end of the week when you start grasping for the weekend to rest and recover.

This example of the battle against the negative effects of stress on our body is directly correlated to being a factor in the cause of vertebral subluxation, regardless of how you feel. As long as you have stress pulling you away from wholeness and you have adaptation trying to keep up with the supply and demands, you have the potential for vertebral subluxation to occur.

Chiropractors are concerned with the preservation and restoration of well-being through particular attention on vertebral subluxation.

Vertebral subluxation is a complex of functional and/or structural changes that can influence neural integrity, whole body or organ system function, and general well-being.

When vertebral subluxation occurs due to a lack of adapting to stress, your deviation away from wholeness and functional efficiency creates a state of condition on the spectrum of well-being. This state of condition is similar to the bell curve. Most of us live in the middle, that’s average. Most of us are born on the far side towards wholeness. All of us leave this earth after our deviation away from wholeness.

When you allow vertebral subluxation to keep you at this area of the spectrum for any given period of time, your functional efficiency will be expressed at this state of condition.

When vertebral subluxation is evaluated and analyzed through the use of chiropractic techniques based on the best available rational and empirical indicators, the chiropractic adjustment can correct the negative complex of dysfunctional or structural articular changes. This adjustment influences normal function again, which influences neural integrity, whole body or organ system function, and general well-being through the inner recuperative power of the body to move towards wholeness.

When this influence towards wholeness takes place after the adjustment, the restoration process proceeds back through disharmony towards harmony. Restoration passes through the following steps in reverse order that it just deviated away from. This is retracing. Retracing is healing through the dysfunctional states on the course of restoration from disharmony back to wholeness on the spectrum of well-being.

They say living life is similar to an onion being peel one layer away at a time. As you live through stress, demands and trauma, layers of functional efficiency are peeled away starting from the outside moving inward. As you turn momentum back in favor of healing and restoration, you have to add new layers of functional efficiency back on your spectrum of well-being. When you add layers back on, you have to go through one layer at a time. This process of adding layers back on means your old dysfunctional states of condition that might have been a part of your well-being years ago need to be restored before moving you towards wholeness.

Chiropractors have an objective to locating, analyzing and facilitating the correction of vertebral subluxation so the neurological communication within the body is optimal, thereby allowing the full expression of the body’s inner recuperative power to heal or create new cells, tissues and overall well-being. This process of restoration from disharmony towards wholeness can create states of retracing.
