Chiropractic 33 Principles, Principle 6: “The Principle of Time”- There is no process that does not require time.
Let’s discuss the element of time as it relates to our physiology.
Within your physiology is the ability to self-heal, self-coordinate and self-function.
When you cut your finger, your self-healing, self-coordinating and self-functioning ability to turn that dysfunctional state in your body turns back into normal tissue, but that process requires time.
Every second of our life, our body is in self-healing mode to get rid of the weak dying cells and replenish with new healthy ones, but that process requires time.
Well-being can be considered a fundamental principle rather than a fundamental pursuit, but that principle requires time.
The potential for an optimal state of well-being is within all of us. Chiropractic is focused on co-creating a higher state of coordination at the neurological level by locating levels of interference in the information that connects your body’s innate intelligence with the matter that makes up the body.
The information within the neurological impulses is conveyed from brain to body through the neurological system keeping the cells and tissues working in a state of coordination. In chiropractic, we refer to the information within the neurological impulses as mental impulses.
Your inherent recuperative power needs to be free of any neurological interference in order for a complete state of well-being to occur from within.
One way to keep the the mental impulses free of interference is utilizing optimal structure within your spine. When the spine is in alignment and acting in accordance as a whole structure, this allows the neurological tissues to function optimally, which allows the body’s inherent recuperative power to coordinate overall well-being.
The necessity of being proactive is an approach to work with the principle of time.
The definition of proactive is “acting, creating, or controlling a situation that causes something to happen rather than responding to it after it has happened.” It’s an act of working with the principle of time.
Being a creator of the circumstances of your well-being in no small feat. Stress and demands constantly take their toll on our bodies. Being ahead of the game with adapting rather than compensating to stress requires constant attention to detail to our quality of life.
Being proactive doesn’t mean reactive choices might be of necessity, as well. Being reactive is natural and due to circumstances in life or limitations to healing, sometimes a reactive decision can be the best course of action that is needed. But when practicing a proactive lifestyle, the times that being reactive is needed will create a more favorable reaction by creating or controlling the reaction to the best of your ability.
The responsibility for your well-being is real. Being in control of circumstances to the best of your ability requires constant awareness and greater understanding of what’s working and what’s not in today’s world of desiring instant results.
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” —Chinese Proverb
Being proactive today for a better tomorrow means the best time to start is now!
The philosophy within every decision we make relies on the idea of moving towards more good or less bad. A question of, will this bring more positive opportunity for me or will this bring less negative consequences?
Utilizing this driving force behind decisions you make may give you a boost towards completing the list of priorities for your well-being.
Put yourself in the shoes of the future you. What will the backyard look like twenty years from now after you’ve planted those trees? See it, envision it. Now do this activity for your quality of life.
Where do you need to start making positive decisions for yourself and loved ones?
