“By removing vertebral subluxation at a young age, it can promote optimal function, and in turn, a healthier and stronger body as they grow up. If vertebral subluxation is present in your child’s spine, it can negatively affect their general health and function.” – Trent Scheidecker, DC
On July 17th, we celebrated past, present and future children under chiropractic care with ChiroWay Kids Day. This event is an opportunity to recognize the hundreds of kids who are currently under care at our ChiroWay Centers.
ChiroWay of Woodbury, owned by Trent Scheidecker, DC, has a practice full of kids that are under regular chiropractic care for wellness purposes to reaching a higher quality of life. Right now, 20% of the practice is pediatrics. This is common within the chiropractic profession as found in a 2010 national chiropractic practice analysis by The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners’ which found that about 17 percent chiropractic patients were under age 18 — approximately 7.7 percent aged five years or younger and some 9.4 percent between ages six and 17.
“At ChiroWay, we are passionate about helping the next generation with regular chiropractic care and helping them invest in their future, as well as educating the community on the importance of chiropractic for kids. Our entire practice model is designed for the busy families who value health and wellbeing at home and are looking for ways to combat the daily stress and demands that take away from our normal state of function.” -Trent Scheidecker, DC
Did you know that children have been receiving chiropractic care for over 100 years? Ever since chiropractic was developed in the early 1900’s, families have been brining their children along with to the chiropractor for chiropractic adjustments.
Children can develop vertebral subluxation right from the start of their life due to stressors they’re confronted with. Children can and do have daily stress and demands in their life and the sooner parents are cognitive of it, the sooner the right decisions about health for their children can be made.
For instance, it wasn’t that long ago that most children woke up eating non-nutritious cereal for breakfast and were advertised to on Saturday morning cartoons. Due to the low nutritional value and the stress it was causing, companies stopped marketing them and since have reformulated the products to better meet the needs of good nutrition to start the day. Before we realized that sugar was stress we just assumed it was fine to start our days with a bowl of sugar.
Parents are becoming more and more aware of the physical, chemical and emotional stress in their children’s lives that can lead to opportunity to benefit from chiropractic adjustments.
The number one questions parent ask, Is chiropractic safe for my children? Yes, chiropractic is safe for your children, but just like anything in life can and does have the small percentage of opportunity for adverse events. One review in 2011 by Matthew Doyle found a .53 to 1% mild adverse event for pediatric chiropractic adjustments.* Chiropractic adjustments are safe for children due to the specific and gentle/minimal pressure used during the pediatric adjustment.
